LILLIAN SCHWARTZ & KEN KNOWLTON
PIXILLATION (1970)

Directors: Lillian F. Schwartz & Ken Knowlton
Year: 1970
Time: 4 mins
Music: Gershon Kingsley
Eye of Sound: Driven by the hectic moog music of Gershton Kingsley, pioneer of computer art Lillian Schwartz reveals in this short film a prophecy about the forthcoming electronic age and "information highway". Commissioned by AT&T, Pixillation discloses a world where microchip labyrinths and patterned synthetic noise dilute (in) human blood, and where complete organicity is no longer possible.

  1. This is strange; do you know if there is two different soundtracks to this film? On Lillian Schwartz's website it's a completely different one, but with the same credits to Gershon Kingsley. http://lillian.com/?p=5

  2. Hmmm. Yes, it's strange. I have no idea about it, and usually an alternative soundtrack should be mentioned...

Will get back to you on Mirages soon. :)

  3. There is no legal requirement to mention other musicians since they are mentioned in the credits of films where their music was used. By the way, most of Lillian's films from the 1970's were the first that could be viewed in 2D or, wearing Chromadepth glasses, in 3D. LRS 11/12/11
